A growth-hormone secretagogue that a drug company built and then dropped. Novo Nordisk designed ipamorelin in the late 1990s. PubMed indexes 50 papers, 20 in rodents, and 2 clinical-trial reports.
The only serious human trial failed. Licensed to Helsinn, ipamorelin was tested intravenously in 117 patients after bowel surgery for post-operative ileus (NCT00672074); it did not beat placebo on its primary or secondary endpoints and development stopped. Three studies are registered on ClinicalTrials.gov, none active with a drug developer.
For a buyer, that leaves no established human dose or benefit for the compound as sold, and a certificate as the only checkable fact about a vial.
